As we all know holding personal and sensitive data about individuals gives us a responsibility and an obligation that we must fulfill in order to comply with The Data Protection Act 1998.

 

Often scenarios get brought to our attention involving data protection and therefore we cannot stress highly enough the need to be fully aware of your responsibilities and have measures in place at your setting.

 

From a FirstSteps perspective and in order safeguard personal data

• Please ensure your data is backed up regularly and stored securely
• That you have a written data protection policy in place that all staff are aware of
• The security /password permissions level of use for FirstSteps is correct for each user
• If required, you are registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)
